The official Steal a Chicken listing puts it in one line: treadmill equals more Speed. That is the unlock tree. Nests, Guards, bats, pens, and the Merchant all sit downstream of whether you can run a chicken home. This page is when to train, how the free bonuses stack, and why Cosmic is a Speed check rather than a secret nest.

Speed is not a cosmetic trail. Trails like Rainbow Trail are badges and flex. Speed is whether the Guard’s leash breaks before you hit the pen lip. If you lose birds on a straight line, you do not have a steal problem. You have a treadmill problem.

Free Speed before you grind

Do these once per account:

1. Redeem Crystal and Relax in case either grant Speed or cash that buys treadmill time.
2. Like the experience.
3. Join Kibrix Runner. The description promises +10K Speed for like-and-join.

Ten thousand Speed is an entire early-game treadmill sit for many players. Skipping the group because you “do not do groups” is a choice to lose nests. Join on the account you steal on, not an alt you will forget.

When to sit versus steal

Train when:

• The nearest Guard still tags you on a clean kite.
• Night reset is incoming and your pen is already full of layers you can afford to idle.
• You just sold a fat Merchant stack and have nothing better to buy than time.

Steal when:

• You can already kite the local Guard.
• A night restock just dropped chickens you can actually hold.
• Your pen has empty slots that a cheap bird would fill for egg income.

A treadmill addict with an empty pen has Speed and no eggs. A nest addict with 8K Speed has eggs they drop. Alternate. One Merchant trip, one treadmill sit, one steal. That rhythm beats a two-hour Cosmic camp.

Speed and the map

Early sand nests in the promotional shots are the tutorial. Mid nests need a kite. Cosmic needs a wall of Speed. We will not invent a fake billion-Speed table copied from other tycoons. We will say this: the Cosmic Zone badge is held by a small slice of players, and the listing did not print a number next to the treadmill. Train until Cosmic stops being a cutscene of you dying, then train a bit more because Cosmic hunters bat.

Pen, eggs, and Speed

Bigger pens hold more chickens. More chickens lay more eggs. More eggs buy more treadmill time. That is the tycoon. Do not dump every coin into pen size while you still lose every carry. A huge pen of birds you cannot protect is a buffet. Pair pen upgrades with Speed so protection is a run, not a prayer.
